This service provides legal services to parents involved in child protection matters, who are appearing in court that day, but do not already have a lawyer.
It is offered at the Devonport Magistrates Court every Wednesday at 2.15pm and at the Burnie Magistrates Court every Thursday at 2.15pm.
The duty lawyer can assist with legal and procedural advice, appearances on at least the first court date, referrals to private lawyers and service and help with an application for legal aid if the person seeking assistance would like further representation.
