Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) provides:- child health, growth and developmental assessments including Healthy Kids Checks); and parent support and information.

About us:

Parenting centres operate within the Child Health and Parenting Service
They offer more intensive support for families experiencing difficulties with children 0 to 5 years of age
Parenting centres are a day service
Consultation available with Child and Family Health Nurses
Sessions are provided on an individual or group basis

Parenting centres provide intensive support for a range of parenting issues where parents of 0 - 5 year olds can go for help and advice with:

breastfeeding / feeding issues
sleep problems
post natal depression
behaviour management
child / parent communication
self esteem
step families
sibling rivalry
general difficulties that relate to parenting

These are issues or situations which frequently arise in the normal process of parenting and can affect all members of the family.

Child and Family Health Nurses working in Child Health Centres, Child and Family Centres, Community Health Centres or district hospitals;
Walker House Parenting Centre (by referral from a Child and Family Health Nurse);
The 24 hour Parent Line - 1300 808 178; and
cu@home program for first time parents aged 15-19 years of age (commencing around 30 weeks gestation).
